A Fresno woman was announced as the Fresno Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center’s Second Chance program recipient. Karen, 31, was selected out of over 400 local applicants to receive a free smile makeover through the practice’s program. The Second Chance program offers the community a month-long opportunity to submit applications to the practice that describes their poor oral health and the daily challenges they face due to their missing and deteriorating teeth. Through the program, a deserving resident within the community is selected and receives a $50,000 full-arch restoration procedure free of charge. This innovative tooth replacement solution relies on a dental implant-based foundation to support transitional fixed bridges and is designed to restore an entire arch of teeth, resulting in a brand-new smile.
Karen, a mother to seven, had only eight teeth remaining and had not kissed her husband in eight years due to her dental health. The mother, who has struggled with finances and affording dental care, began to notice her teeth breaking and decaying when she had her first two children. She expressed in her application that her smile impacted her confidence and held her back from achieving her goals. She also said that she was unable to participate in social gatherings at church and her children’s schools. Karen expressed that she wants to be her best self and be happy for her children, saying that her kids tell her every day to smile and not feel embarrassed because she is still beautiful and strong.
Fresno Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center is collaborating with Dr. Laine Janzen of Janzen Dental, Russ Dunbar with Aesthetic Oral Arts, and Zimmer Biomet to complete the procedure and give Karen the smile she deserves.
